In order to achieve good and effective pedagogical work in the field of music education in primary schools, it necessary for teachers of music school subjects to master their work with musically gifted and talented students. In addition to students’ own engagements, the development of musical talents is also influenced by stimulating environments, which primary school teachers are important parts of. The task of the class teacher is to identify musically gifted students and to provide them such classroom conditions which help them develop their talents and at the same time direct them to musical activities that take place in primary schools and beyond. Music teachers have important roles to play during their work due to their professional orientation and their further work with gifted students. Therefore, a cooperation of all music teachers is crucial for achieving the best results. Studies have shown that some teachers have difficulties working with musically gifted students either due to teachers’ time constraints, the number of students in the classroom, or a lack of self-competencies. Often, educational pedagogical institutions do not put enough emphasis on the education of future teachers in the music field in the curriculum, so if teachers want to be sufficiently qualified in this work, they have to find this knowledge by themselves. Via the analysis of the collected resources, I would like to contribute to the improvement of teacher education in this field. The purpose of this paper is to systematically present work with musically gifted and talented students throughout primary education and to present my own examples and methods of work.
