Understanding, Inspiration, and Ideas for equitable teaching and support for Gifted StudentsPaper
What are equitable teaching strategies and equitable supports for gifted students, and why do gifted students need them? Melissa will engage you in the theme for the International Talent Education 2023 Conference by sharing narratives about students that illustrate what it looks like when gifted students have a need for equitable learning and support services. Student stories inspire teachers, counselors, and parents to strive to develop a deeper understanding of how gifted students are disadvantaged in learning, performing, and achieving when teaching and services are not provided equitably. Ideas for how equitable teaching and support can be defined and offered to students will be shared. Participants will leave with a clear understanding of equity, student needs, and a great inspiration to take ideas to their classrooms that put equitable teaching into practice.
