Our hopes and worries about gifted studentsPaper
This presentation focuses on our hopes and worries both as parents and as educators regarding gifted students. We have complicated and conflicting attitudes about their development both in the social-emotional realm and about what is an effective curriculum. We have extensive experience at the Belin-Blank Center in counseling students and parents. We also have extensive research on the importance of accelerated curriculum. Understanding main issues in the social-emotional realm and understanding the importance of appropriate curriculum helps us to become more effective parents and educators.
