Exceptionally talented high school math studentsPaper
In my seventeen years of teaching, I have only met an exceptionally talented and gifted student twice. The experience was very interesting, as both students had extremely strong mathematics. While other areas were the same as the rest or even worse. They had a lot of problems, especially in the social field. It was necessary to work with them in a different way. They did not like to write in a notebook in class, they memorized all the material during the lecture. They especially excelled in rote multiplication of both three- and four-digit numbers. Their handwriting was difficult to read, and their calculations and procedures were precise or accurate. There were no errors in the written assignments. In general, however, these were very quiet and calm students who did not want to stand out. It is also interesting that both majors were computer science technicians and programming did not cause them any problems. They programmed in all programming languages without problems and excelled in this area as well. From here you can see how closely related mathematics and computer science are, since the first good programmers were also very good mathematicians. When programming, these two students had no problems with writing, as they programmed on a computer. But it was different in mathematics. We quickly replaced the hard-to-read font and unclear sketches with math programs, where they shined.
